In many paintings and other works of art throughout history, the calla lily has been depicted with the Virgin Mary or Angel of Annunciation. For this reason, it has been associated with holiness, faith and purity. Additionally, as the cone-line flowers blossom in spring, they have become symbols of youth and rebirth.
The Calla lily is a beautiful flower, oddly enough, a Calla lily is not even a lily, and it is in the Araceae family and is actually poisonous. The Calla lily is also known as the Arum lily so it can be called both names. This flower has different meanings to different people.
I found these in a flower market in Maastricht, The Netherlands. I grow them in different colours yet this one looked so different that I had to have them and photograph…Choosing is always difficult for me. From a couple of hundreds, these are for you!
Have a beautiful Friday 🙂
